If you’re referring to the latest reports, Sean “Diddy” Combs’ projected federal prison release date has been moved up again. According to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons records cited by multiple news outlets, his current projected release date is February 23, 2028. This is earlier than the previously reported dates of June 4, 2028, then April 25, 2028, and later April 15, 2028.
Why was the date moved up?
The Bureau of Prisons has not publicly provided a specific reason. However, reports note that Combs is incarcerated at a federal facility in New Jersey that offers rehabilitation programs, including substance-abuse treatment. Participation in certain federal programs and earned time credits can sometimes reduce the amount of time an inmate spends in custody.
What sentence is he serving?
Combs is serving a 50-month federal sentence after being convicted in 2025 on two counts related to transportation for prostitution. He was acquitted of the more serious racketeering and sex-trafficking charges that had been brought against him.
Is he still appealing?
Yes. His legal team continues to challenge both the conviction and the sentence, and that appeal remains pending. The outcome of the appeal could potentially affect his legal status in the future.
