Jeremy Clarkson has described himself as “the world’s luckiest man” after surviving two major health crises and successfully undergoing treatment for an aggressive form of prostate cancer.
The television presenter, best known for Top Gear, The Grand Tour, and Amazon Prime Video’s Clarkson’s Farm, spoke publicly about his cancer battle for the first time in a recent interview. Reflecting on the past year, Clarkson said he had “cheated death twice” after dealing with both serious heart problems and cancer.
The revelation comes just days after viewers watched the emotional conclusion of Clarkson’s Farm Season 5, where the 66-year-old informed colleagues Kaleb Cooper and Charlie Ireland that he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer. Although the diagnosis was alarming, doctors discovered the disease at an early stage, significantly improving his chances of recovery.
Clarkson explained that the cancer was found following routine medical testing. After elevated PSA results and further examinations, doctors confirmed the diagnosis and began treatment. He later underwent a procedure that removed cancerous tissue from his prostate.
The health scare followed another life-threatening episode in 2024 when Clarkson required emergency treatment after doctors discovered severe blockages in his heart arteries. At the time, he later revealed that he had been dangerously close to suffering a major heart attack.
According to Clarkson, the combination of heart disease and cancer within such a short period made him realize how fortunate he was to still be alive. He credited early medical intervention for saving his life and said he now feels compelled to speak openly about his experience.
The presenter has confirmed that he is currently in remission after receiving treatment using high-intensity focused ultrasound, commonly known as HIFU. While he experienced some complications during recovery, doctors were able to successfully treat the cancer before it spread beyond the prostate.
One of Clarkson’s main reasons for sharing his story is to encourage more men to undergo regular health checks. He has repeatedly stressed that early detection played a critical role in his outcome and believes many lives could be saved through greater awareness of prostate cancer screening.
Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among men in the United Kingdom. Health experts say the disease often develops without obvious symptoms in its early stages, making routine testing especially important for older men and those in higher-risk groups.
Despite the difficult year, Clarkson remains optimistic about the future. Production is already underway on another season of Clarkson’s Farm, and the presenter says he hopes to continue working on the farm for many years to come.
For fans who watched the emotional season finale, Clarkson’s latest update offers welcome news. After months of uncertainty, the broadcaster says he is recovering, in remission, and grateful for the medical care that helped him survive what could have been a very different outcome.
